Autism Spectrum Understanding
What does this course involve?
Developing a greater understanding of autism and the different ways autistic people may experience the world.
Autism affects people in different ways, which is why genuine understanding is so important. This course moves beyond stereotypes and assumptions to explore how autism can influence communication, social interaction, sensory experiences, behaviour and everyday life.
Bill helps participants develop a more informed understanding of autism, looking beyond labels to consider the individual, their experiences, strengths and support needs.
The aim is to give participants greater knowledge, awareness and confidence when communicating with and supporting autistic people.
Understanding the individual, not just the diagnosis
There is no single way to experience autism. Every autistic person is an individual, with their own personality, abilities, challenges, preferences and way of experiencing the world.
This course encourages participants to look beyond assumptions about autism and develop a deeper understanding of how differences in communication, sensory processing and social interaction can influence someone’s experiences and behaviour.

The result is training that feels relevant, memorable and connected to the real world.
What can you expect from the course?
Autism is a broad spectrum, and understanding it requires looking beyond a checklist of characteristics.
Bill explains autism in an accessible and engaging way, helping participants understand how differences in communication, sensory processing and interaction can affect the way someone experiences everyday situations.
The emphasis is on developing understanding and adapting our approach to the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit a particular way of doing things.
