Positive Psychology and Well Being- An Understanding

Positive Psychology and Well Being- An Understanding

What does this course involve?

Exploring the psychology of wellbeing and understanding what can help people live healthier, more fulfilling lives

Positive psychology focuses not only on difficulties and distress, but also on the factors that help people function well, develop resilience, build meaningful relationships and experience a greater sense of wellbeing.

This course introduces participants to the principles of positive psychology and explores how our thoughts, relationships, experiences, strengths and everyday behaviours can influence psychological wellbeing.

Bill brings the theory into the real world, helping participants consider practical ways of developing wellbeing without suggesting that life’s difficulties can simply be solved by “thinking positively”.

Wellbeing is more than simply feeling happy

Positive psychology isn’t about pretending everything is fine or ignoring difficult emotions.

Instead, it explores what helps people flourish, cope with challenges, develop meaningful relationships and create a greater sense of purpose and satisfaction in their lives.

Understanding these principles can help us think differently about our own wellbeing and how we support the wellbeing of others.

Why choose Positive Psychology & Wellbeing training?

Mental health isn’t simply about the absence of mental illness. Understanding the factors that help people feel connected, resilient, purposeful and fulfilled is also an important part of supporting psychological wellbeing.

This course introduces participants to a different way of thinking about mental health — exploring not only what can go wrong, but what can help people live and function well.

It can be particularly valuable for people working within healthcare, social care, education, counselling, management, HR, charities, community organisations and other roles involving the support or development of people.

The aim isn’t to promote unrealistic positivity or suggest that difficult experiences should simply be ignored. Instead, the course provides a greater understanding of the psychological factors that can support resilience, wellbeing and a more fulfilling life.
